Lawnmower Maintenance
A beautiful yard needs a lot of care. The sowing, watering, mowing etc are all parts of the lawn care. Mowing becomes a very important feature of Lawn care and the lawn mower is a regular element in the gardening plan. To ensure that youre mowing your garden well, you need to take ample care of your mower. You need to maintain it throughout the year, not just in a particular season when you need it the most.
Maintaining your lawn mower throughout the year wouldnt give you trouble while starting at the end of a long winter season. If a few simple checks are made from time to time then the mower will stay in good shape and excellent working condition.
Below is a list of some of these regular checks:
- Checking Nuts, Bolts, & Screws. By simply tightening the nuts, bolts, and screws on your lawn mower regularly, you can avoid problems related to the mower steering and attachments.
- Clean the mower after every cutting session. This will prevent the gradual erosion of the mowers parts. Washing the lawn mower after each use will keep it free of debris and keep the paint looking new.
- Sharpening the blade of your lawn mower will ensure smooth functioning and will also prevent the blades from rusting or corroding. Removing the blade is relatively easy, and sharpening it will save you money and will also ensure efficient mowing always.
- Checking the tyres. The tyre pressure in your lawn mower is equally important. Lawn mower wheels can get damaged easily if the right tyre pressure is not kept.
- During the summer months periodically check the oil and the condition of the air and fuel filters.
- The spark plug: At the end of winters, one of the first things to do is to check on the spark plug. Remove it from the machine and make sure that you clean it free of any dust or grease.
- Check for the gas in the mower: If youd left old gas in the mower without a fuel stabilizer then refills the gas. Make sure that the fuel line is connected to the machine and that fuel is getting to the carburetor. Also check that the oil is up to adequate levels.
- Clean the air filter: A dirty or oily filter should be replaced. Also, clean the carburetor after disconnecting the fuel line.
- Even if youve been sharpening the blade of the mower on frequent intervals, confirm the blade sharpness before starting to mow the lawn. Dull blades will not cut well and will only waste your time.
These simple steps will help save you time and money and will give your lawn an elegant and beautiful look. Remember, only a healthy mower can give you a beautiful lawn.

Does anyone have the electrical schematic for a 928D Grasshopper they can post online ? We are in New Zealand on a missionary trip and cannot get our mower started after it was in a shipping container for 6 months. Think one of the safety switches is bad, but can't find without manual.
