But the most important feature of your lawnmower is the blade - the tool that actually cuts the grass.

Blade is one of the essential parts of the lawn mowers. There is a vast range of lawn mowers blades on the market, each in a different price range offering different features. Lawnmower blades are made from a variety of materials - and some are not capable of being sharpened by the owner, for that read the manual of your lawn mower.

Lawn mowers blades are categorized into two types:

Reel Type: Reel type blades are generally used in walk behind lawn mowers. They are arranged in a spiral form in a cylinder and cut the grass in a shearing manner. The gap between the blade and the bed is adjustable and so is easily operated by the operator. The volume of the grass cut is generally low in this type of lawn owner as it is manual. Sharpening of the blades requires special skills in this type of land mower.

Motorized/blade type: The other version is the motorized type or blade type used in motorized lawn mowers. The blade is rotated at very high speed and moves so fast that anything that comes in its way is cut instantly. These blades can be used in case of large areas, as they require no special skills and the blades can be easily maintained.

Maintenance of lawn mowers blades is required and this is possible only if one take care of the blades, as this is the essential part in a land mower. A dull blade will fail to cut the grass neatly. Accidents might occurs sometimes while dealing with the blades so be cautious and read the manual of your lawn mower as it is better to be careful than lose your fingers.

However, one can take certain steps to maintain or sharpen your lawn mower blades. If you don’t want to sharpen replace it with a new blade. Lastly and the most crucial thing is to conduct regular maintenance so that your lawn mower remains in top condition for you.
