For a beautiful lawn, apart from using a land mower you also need a lawn trimmer as well. Sometimes you may have a garden lawn butting up against a wall and the land mower may not have a sufficient contact with the grass. Therefore the only way is to use some sort of a trimmer that can transform a shaggy, unattractive mess into a beautiful landscape. However you should have an idea of the amount and the type of work that your garden requires before you actually go out for buying a trimmer.
The basic lawn edger consists of dual blades and a long wooden handle attached to it. A common and cheap lawn trimmer or edger is lightweight and requires no gasoline. There are no electric wires either. If the blades are maintained free from dust it can be used effectively for cutting 35 feet of pathway. However a constant use for a certain duration of time may make you feel tired and your shoulders may feel sore, so much so, that though you may be an ardent garden lover you will not be able to enjoy your work.
The next best thing one can use in such a case is the electric trimmer, which is better than the manual trimmer and can be used in a variety of positions.
Also, we have a power trimmer, which uses a small, gas powered motor. Though it has no electric cable to restrict its movements it is heavier than the electric trimmer. When you are inundated with thick weeds, overgrowing bush, or other debris that you want to cut down considerably, a gas-powered edger should come handy.
However, automatic or fully mechanized equipment may not give you a desired result always. The reason being a mechanized or a power trimmer may run faster than you can actually handle and thereby creating uneven or untidy patterns. In such cases it is always worth to go for a manual one.
A well-mowed lawn will still look unkempt if the edges are not done properly. A good trimmer is therefore a must to give your lawn an exclusive look.
